Malaysia’s First Virtual Credit Card for EV Charging Launched by JomCharge and Alliance Bank

Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad has introduced a new Visa Virtual Credit Card (VCC), designed specifically to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience through a collaboration with JomCharge.

This comes after Alliance Bank expanded the functionality of its Visa Virtual Credit Card in January by integrating it with Samsung Pay and Google Pay allowing  users to make secure, contactless payments in physical stores using their mobile devices.

Designed with convenience and digital-first usage in mind, the card offers EV owners a seamless and secure payment solution, directly accessible through the JomCharge mobile app.

Unlike traditional cards, the VCC is entirely virtual and managed within the app, allowing users to charge their vehicles without physical cash or cards. It features a dynamic 16-digit number that updates every 30 minutes, offering robust protection against fraud and misuse.

Cardholders enjoy a range of rewards and benefits. Upon approval, new users receive RM100 in JomCharge credit, offering immediate value. The card also provides a 20% rebate on EV charging transactions at eligible charging stations, enabling users to reduce their regular charging costs. Additionally, customers earn eight times Timeless Bonus Points for every RM1 spent on e-commerce purchases and eWallet top-ups, with no expiry on the points earned.

Here are the terms and conditions for the Alliance Bank x JomCharge promo:

RM 100 Charging Credits

  • For each successful application through the JomCharge App
  • Capped at 100 applications monthly
  • Only applicable to customers who have not held any Alliance Bank credit cards in the past 6 months (new customers only)
  • Will be credited the following month
  • Now until July 2025

20% Rebate

  • Credited as JomCharge Charging Credits

Gan Pai Li, Alliance Bank’s Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer, described the offering as part of the bank’s broader push into lifestyle-driven digital banking. “Once you find the JomCharge in your phone, you fish out your phone, you apply your VCC payment card, and go ahead and charge your EV vehicle,” she said, highlighting the card’s simplicity and on-the-go accessibility.

The Visa Virtual Credit Card is available to Malaysian citizens aged 21 and above, with a minimum annual income of RM24,000. The application process is fully digital and completed within the JomCharge app.
